BetMGM, owned by MGM Resorts and Entain, has recently announced a deal with the New York Yankees that will bring enhanced VIP experiences to its customers and avid baseball fans.
Let’s take a closer look at the details behind this new partnership and how it might impact top-rated sportsbooks.
The Royal Treatment
A recent partnership between BetMGM and the Yankees will allow MGM Rewards members to enjoy more amazing experiences than ever before. According to an MGM Resorts press release, “The two organizations will collaborate to deliver exclusive VIP experiences to MGM Rewards members and baseball fans including the opportunity to watch batting practice from the warning track and throw out a ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium.”
BetMGM will also gain increased visibility and signage throughout the stadium while the BetMGM logo will be advertised on the rear of the pitcher’s mound during designated games and broadcasts. It all adds up to added visibility for one of New York’s premier mobile sportsbooks and opportunities for their customers to get access to the ballclub on an unprecedented level.
Bill Hornbuckle, MGM Resorts CEO & President, said, “We remain committed to investing in the community while collaborating with the New York Yankees to provide unparalleled experiences for baseball fans.”
Some of those “unparalleled experiences” will include getting to rub elbows with current and former Yankees at the MGM Resorts’ Empire City Casino, located at Yonker’s Raceway.
“Our company has owned and operated Empire City Casino and Yonkers Raceway for the past five years. As we continue working to secure a full commercial casino license at Empire City, this partnership allows us to further develop these properties to their potential, while providing the world-class hospitality guests have come to expect from the MGM Resorts brand.”
MGM Vying for Casino License
Three downstate full casino gaming licenses will be awarded and MGM Resorts has an excellent opportunity to secure one of them as it is currently operating Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway. As of this writing, it is currently a racino with horse betting and slot wagering allowed. However, no table games are permitted and if MGM were to be awarded a full license there would be plenty of changes at the venue.
The 275,000 square feet of space now operating would be redeveloped and another 340,000 square feet would be added along with an eight-story parking garage which would house approximately 4,800 vehicles. New and expanded dining options would also be part of a series of amenities and upgrades that would bring the Las Vegas glitz and glamour to New York.
Attorney Mark Weingarten of the law firm DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Wise & Wiederkehr, LLP, recently filed a petition requesting a new zoning ordinance to be known as the “Casino Special District.”
According to Weingarten, “A new four-level, state-of-the-art entertainment venue will be located in the northwest corner of the property, adding a much-needed amenity for the city and a significant regional attraction. The venue will be capable of accommodating a variety of events, and flexible seating configurations will allow concerts and performances at many scales.”
A second phase of the project could see a hotel and more conference areas built but the company’s primary focus is getting one of the three licenses to its existing location.
